~~I wasn't kidding about these Cheez-its.~~

You know, it's inconvenient making acquaintances who sleep at night.

Tony went back to drinking his beer and eating cheez its. "I should work on that some time."

He should, but he probably would keep forgetting to except at odd times until some occasion where such a spell was necessary to survive. At that time, either adrenaline would give him the power to do what was needed, or he would die.

Again.

Yeah, mate. Maybe. [he agreed, leaning over to steal some Cheezits]

Tony, noticing Spike reaching, held the box out so Spike could reach the Cheezits better.

"So how's wardening going so far?"

[He shrugged, munching absently. Get along with him well enough. ..Though you are the first one to think I'm a warden, off the bat.

Tony shrugged. "You don't seem like an inmate."

In other words, from his knowledge of Buffy, Tony suspected that this Spike was definitely post-chip, in which case there wasn't much of a reason to make him an inmate. Pre-chip Spike wouldn't have been likely to sit there drinking beers with him, after all, without any inclinations of taking a bite.

Yeah, really? I'll take that as a compliment, then.

Tony shrugged. "Well, since I'm a warden, it's not exactly going to be an insult."

Well, it could be, but he'd have issues if he was a warden who hated wardens.

[he snorted, then nodded] Right.

"So who's your inmate?"

Brian Moser. Dunno if you've met him, he's Dexter's long lost brother.

"Nah, never heard of him," Tony answered, taking another drink. Never really met Dexter, either.

Yeah, he's not the social type.

"Yeah. Mine was more...has anyone mentioned that some people just disappear here sometimes? No one knows where they go, but they sometimes come back."

That happened to yours?

"Yeah. It was disappointing. I mean, I understood him, I knew exactly what his problem was, and I think I'd have actually been able to do a decent job, but...I guess it doesn't matter now. I'll be paired up again, and I just hope my next inmate doesn't disappear."

That's.. gotta be frustrating, mate.

"Yeah. It sometimes makes me wonder the point of this place if the inmates can just disappear like that."

So.. why stay?
