[New York. Not his favorite place. Even less so when he had to ride the subway. Spike did his best to keep his head down and try not to think, an unlit cigarette hanging from his mouth. Each shove of thronging New Yorkers made him a little number as he glanced down at the scrawled address over crumpled paper for the millionth time.

As he steps out onto the street, the Sun's almost down. Keeping his eyes on his boots, he pushes hands with chipping nail polish into his duster pockets, trying not to feel the last of its warmth on his face. He couldn't feel more out of place as he's looking up the nose of Petrelli Manor, keeping his eyes out for Peter. Steeling himself, he steps up on the lawn, half-expecting an aerial attack. Or maybe one from the side.]

[ Peter has no idea how Spike just did that, but he's not going to question it. And neither will anyone else because it's New York, everyone drives ridiculously. ] But he's making it seem that way. [ He offers Spike an apologetic smile and then a nod. ] Yeah, sure.

[He's nodding, pocketing the keys as he holds open the door for Peter.] So is Claire, incidentally.

[ Peter makes a face, shaking his head as he wanders into the coffee shop. ] I know I don't completely understand where she's coming from-- [ muttering under his breath that Sylar's only killed him once, after all... ] --but she should know he's not any more your responsibility than he is mine. The only person whose fault it is, is Sylar's.

If I leave, he's threatening to follow. It's bound to be something of a mess. [He's ordering something random, without really knowing what it even means. What happened to regular coffee and tea :c ] You can back out now, if you want your car back.

[ Peter just gets something highly caffeinated and lacking sugar -- aka black coffee. He's hardcore. And he likes his caffeine. ] Give me a call if you need a hand with him.

[ Peter pays for his own coffee, giving the cashier a nod before he follows Spike. ] The kind where I get him out of your hair? He doesn't even know I've got my abilities back. And then he can be upset with me.

You don't have to do that. I'm not allowed to be mates with you anyhow. [Sip and cringe, both from the heat and the phony cappuccino taste.] Would you kill him?

Yeah, well-- [ Peter shrugs, blowing over the top of his own coffee. ] I don't have to do a lot of things. [ Rubbing at his face for a moment, he looks up at Spike. ] He's supposed to be dead. In my time. I helped kill him. I don't even know how he's still alive in the first place.

Yeah. [ Peter's far more concerned about this than he's letting on, but it's not as if it's not... completely obvious. Peter just sighs and drinks his coffee. ] Interesting.

Everything .. worked out. More messy than I would've liked, but we got the job done. We'll just call on a raincheck if it happens again.

She won't have to. I've got your number. [He takes a sip and leans back, more visibly relaxed. It's not often people are on Spike's side. That he can trust not to get themselves killed, especially.]

Yeah, good thing. [ Peter smiles faintly, knocking back some more of his own coffee. Peter was just so surprisingly glad that Spike hadn't listened to Sylar's claim that they weren't allowed to be friends. ]

I'm not just taking a vacation. They need my help, especially with Angel speaking nonsense. I know I shouldn't muck about in time, but it's either this or back to Hell.
